MARTA EAST LAKE STATION TO UNDERGO ELEVATOR REPAIRS AND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is making significant progress on renovating East Lake Station as a part of its Station Rehabilitation Program, a multi-decade program to repair and renovate all 38 of its heavy rail stations. Ongoing renovations will require temporary elevator and road closures at East Lake Station next week.

Temporary elevator closure and customer shuttle April 13-15:

  • MARTA and its construction partner, Reeves Young/CERM, will temporarily close the north elevator at East Lake Station for repairs from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, April 13 through Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
  •
  • Customers who need elevator access should use the complimentary shuttle running between East Lake and Edgewood/Candler Park Stations. This shuttle will also run between the north and south parking lots at East Lake Station while the south lot and entrance are closed for replacement of the south bridge.

Temporary road closure for south pedestrian bridge replacement April 17-20:

  • College Avenue between Park Place NE and the East Lake Drive spur will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from 6 p.m. Friday, April 17, to 4 a.m. Monday, April 20. Detour signs will reroute traffic. The East Lake Drive underpass remains open.
  • MARTA customers should continue to enter the station, board buses, and park on the north side of East Lake Station. The south side closed for construction beginning March 9, 2026. The south side is expected to reopen in late May.
  • A MARTA Mobility shuttle running between the north and south sides of the station will continue to operate during the road closure.
  • Trains will be intermittently single tracking April 17 – 21 to accommodate the bridge replacement. Customers should plan extra time for their trip. Click here for more service details.

A new pedestrian bridge has already been added to the north side of the station. Additional project features include improved lighting, flooring, and wall screens. To learn more about this project, visit MARTA.
