Four-and-a-half years ago, MARTA embarked on a multi-decade program to repair and renovate all 38 heavy rail stations. Portions of the rail system are nearly 50 years old and require constant maintenance & upgrades to maintain safe, comfortable and quality rides for customers everyday.
The Station Rehabilitation program is about making our stations cleaner, safer, and more reliable for everyday riders.
Program updates include:
Flooring
New floors at Airport, Brookhaven, Five Points, Garnett, and Indian Creek are safer and easier to clean.
Wall surfaces
New wall surfaces at Five Points, Indian Creek, Peachtree Center, and Vine City are brighter, resistant to graffiti, and protect from the elements.
Lighting
Lighting upgrades at Five Points, Garnett, Indian Creek, and Vine City make it easier to navigate the station and feel safer at all hours.
Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning and pressure-washing at Airport, Brookhaven, Five Points, Garnett, Indian Creek, Lenox, Peachtree Center, and Vine City make stations more attractive to customers and neighbors.
Bridges
Pedestrian bridges at East Lake and Indian Creek better connect communities to our system, leading to more access and opportunity.
Elevators
New elevators at Airport and East Lake improve accessibility for customers using wheelchairs, bicycles, and carrying luggage.
Amenities
New benches and trash cans at Airport, Brookhaven, Five Points, and Indian Creek, and new SMART restrooms at Peachtree Center make it more comfortable waiting between train and bus trips. New windscreens at Garnett are easier to maintain and add a new visual feature to the station while shielding customers from the elements.
Operator Enhancements
New operator booths and restrooms on the platforms at Indian Creek and Airport make it easier for our operators to take breaks and stay on schedule.
Landscaping
New landscaping at College Park, Indian Creek, Lenox, and Vine City make our stations more welcoming and attractive to both customers and our neighbors.
