Safety & security

MARTA Police patrols buses, trains, stations, and parking lots — meaning there’s an officer nearby no matter how you’re riding MARTA.

When we look out for each other, we can all enjoy the ride a little more. See & Say 2.0 allows you to report safety concerns discreetly and anonymously to MARTA Police, chat with MARTA Police and share your location with friends.

Reports can be made directly through the app, by calling 404-848-4911 or texting the new SMS number, 1-877-371-8477.

Rail

• Please remain behind the tactile warning strip while waiting for the train to arrive.
• Once the train comes to a complete stop, allow passengers to exit first before attempting to board.
• Allow passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility devices to board first.
• Do not interfere with closing train doors, as this may cause injury and delay service for all riders.
• At the station, while on the escalator, hold the handrail and stay to the right if you choose to stand. Use the left side to move up the stairs.
• At the station, while on the elevators, let passengers closest to the door exit first.

Bus/MARTA Reach

• Wait to board the bus at the bus stop, and only get off at designated MARTA stops (except in cases of emergency).
• Our operators are not allowed to pick up passengers once they’ve left a designated stop.
• Allow passengers attempting to exit the bus to do so before attempting to board.
• If standing on any MARTA bus, always hold on to the hand straps or the overhead rods.
• Always notify the bus operator when placing on or removing a bike from the bus bike rack.

Streetcar

• Please remain behind the red granite strip on the station platform while waiting for the streetcar.
• Only enter the streetcar after it comes to a complete stop, and allow current passengers to exit first.
• Allow passengers using wheelchairs, or mobility devices to board first.
• While standing, hold onto overhead bars or straps to maintain a safe and secure ride.
• Sitting or standing on or near the step area is prohibited.
• Do not interfere with closing doors, as this may cause injury and delay service for all riders.
• Never run after a streetcar or try to board it after it has left the stop. Our operators are not allowed to pick up passengers once they have left a stop.

MARTA Mobility

• As with our standard buses, wait at the designated pick-up spot for your ride.
• Never stand behind a mobility van, and move back from the van if you're requesting a ramp or lift.
• Passengers using mobility devices and wheelchairs should use lap belts to secure themselves during the ride.
