Rhonda began her 25-year career at MARTA as an engineering intern. Her career path included
stints in engineering, construction management, project management and
strategic planning roles. While an engineer at heart, she has always
brought a customer-focused lens to the projects under her direction. Earlier in
her career, she led a team of engineers, architects, and construction
professionals in the completion of the north entrance of MARTA’s Buckhead
Transit Station over a live rail rapid transit line. More recently, Rhonda
oversaw the successful implementation of plans for Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and
FIFA Club World Cup games in 2025.
In her role as
Chief Customer Experience Officer, Rhonda leads the Division of Customer
Experience and Technology. However, Rhonda works with departments across the
agency to elevate the customer’s voice and prioritize the customer experience
in MARTA’s operations and capital program. Early in this role,
Rhonda launched MARTA’s first-ever Riders’ Advisory Council, a diverse group of
metro Atlanta residents, to strengthen the link between MARTA and the
communities it serves. She also established the MARTA HOPE Team in
partnership with a non-profit organization to address homelessness humanely and
proactively on the transit system. Rhonda and her team are now taking the lead
on MARTA’s advancements in customer services and management of mega events,
research and data governance, cyber security, information technology, and
customer-facing technology such as the introduction of the next generation of
MARTA’s automated fare collection system, digital rider information systems and
demand response mobility solutions.
A native of
Georgia, Rhonda graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Civil
Engineering. Her studies focused on Structural Engineering and
Construction, Engineering and Management, respectively. She has
professional certifications with the Customer Experience Professionals
Association and the Project Management Institute, is a member of the Eno Center
for Transportation’s Board of Regents, and a proud graduate of Leadership APTA
and Eno’s Senior Executive Program.
