MARTA, REGIONAL TRANSIT CUSTOMERS MUST CONVERT
TO BETTER BREEZE FARE PAYMENT SYSTEM BY MAY 2nd
ATLANTA – The
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) better Breeze fare payment
system is live, and customers of MARTA and regional transit partners ATL
Xpress, CobbLinc, Connect Douglas, and Ride Gwinnett must convert to the new
system by May 2, 2026. Installation of fare equipment continues in areas, and
all gates are open, but new faregates will close May 2, 2026, and fare payment
will be required.
ACCEPTED AS FARE
PAYMENT:
New orange Breeze
cards. Available for
purchase at:
- Ticket vending machines (TVMs) at Lindbergh, Doraville,
Dunwoody, Ashby, Georgia State, West End, Airport, SEC District, and Vine
City Station. Additional TVMs are being installed. Check TVM availability.
- MARTA and regional transit Ride Stores.
- On breezecard.com to be mailed to you in approximately 5
business days.
- Currently certified Reduced Fare and Mobility customers
will receive new Breeze cards in the mail.
- Institutional Partner cards are being distributed by
individual employers, schools, and organizations.
All major bank cards and
mobile wallets.
Cash is accepted on local bus routes (except on
board the Rapid A-Line)
- Exact change required.
- One-way fare only. No transfers.
- New Breeze cards cannot be loaded with cash on the bus.
NOT ACCEPTED AS FARE
PAYMENT:
- New
Breeze Mobile app –
this is for account management only. Register a physical Breeze card and
load fare.
- Old Breeze cards.
- Old Breeze Mobile 2.0 app.
COMING SOON:
- Virtual Breeze cards in mobile wallets and the Breeze
Mobile app.
- Breeze cards for sale at retail locations.
- New cash fareboxes.
Again, all customers who
ride MARTA and regional transit services must convert to the better Breeze fare
payment system by May 2, 2026, by purchasing or receiving a new Breeze card, or
using a bank card or mobile wallet. You will not lose unused fare on your old
Breeze account. Balance transfers to a new, registered Breeze account will be
accommodated May 5 – Oct. 30, 2026.
