MARTA BREEZE CARD NOW
AVAILABLE IN APPLE WALLET
Customers Can Add a
Breeze Card to Apple Wallet, and Simply Tap Their iPhone or Apple Watch to Ride
Public Transportation in Metro Atlanta
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)
announced today that Breeze cards are now available in Apple Wallet, providing
an easy, secure and private way for customers to tap and ride transit across
Metro Atlanta with just their iPhone or Apple Watch. MARTA customers and riders
of regional transit partners ATL Xpress, CobbLinc, Connect Douglas, and Ride
Gwinnett can easily add a Breeze Card to their iPhone and Apple Watch, and use
their device to pay and ride transit. For even more ease and convenience,
riders can reload funds, buy passes or tickets, and renew them manually at any
time — directly from Apple Wallet.
Adding a Breeze card to an iPhone:
- Open Apple Wallet on
your iPhone.
- Tap the plus sign (+).
- Tap Transit Card to get
started.
Adding a Breeze card to
an Apple Watch:
- Open Apple Wallet on
your Apple Watch.
- Tap Add Card to get
started.
To Pay and Ride:
- Breeze Card in Apple
Wallet allows for an easy and convenient commuting experience using simply an
iPhone or Apple Watch. When customers have Express Mode enabled, they can
simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a reader to ride transit in
Atlanta without having to unlock or wake up their device.
- With power reserve on
iPhone, if a customer’s device needs to be charged, they can still use it to
ride transit.
- Customers can also
quickly view their added Breeze Card balance and passes at any time directly
from Apple Wallet.
Customers without a
Breeze Card in Apple Wallet can additionally pay to ride transit seamlessly
with Apple Pay.
Security and Privacy
Breeze Card in Apple Wallet takes full advantage of the privacy
and security built into iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple never sees nor tracks
MARTA transactions or users’ journeys. When customers add Breeze Card to Apple
Wallet, the card information is encrypted and securely stored in the Secure
Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the information
safely on the device. If a user’s iPhone or Apple Watch is misplaced, they can
promptly use Find My to lock and help locate it.
