MARTA PARTNERS WITH GOODR
TO BRING FRESH FOOD TO AREAS OF FOOD INSECURITY IN CLAYTON COUNTY
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has partnered with Goodr to bring a free mobile grocery store to Tara Stadium, located at 1055 Battle Creek Rd. in Jonesboro on Saturday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Goodr Mobile Grocery Store is stocked with free groceries, including fresh produce, milk, eggs, and shelf-stable items. The mobile grocery is fully outfitted with refrigerators, freezers, and shelving to mimic a grocery store experience.
In Georgia, one in nine adults experience food insecurity, and that number increases to one in eight for children. Food insecurity can affect people at any stage of life, from seniors living on a fixed income to families making too much to qualify for assistance, but not enough to put food on the
table.
“MARTA strives to enrich the communities we serve, including in food deserts, or areas in which access to fresh food is limited,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. “Our MARTA Markets Program currently does this at five rail stations throughout the City of
Atlanta, Fulton and DeKalb County service areas, and this partnership with Goodr allows us to meet the needs of food-insecure families in Clayton County as well.”
“The Goodr Mobile Grocery Store has been a dream of mine for several years now," said Goodr Founder and Manager Jasmine Crowe-Houston. "We are so grateful to our amazing sponsors at MARTA, Amazon, Wellstar, Mailchimp, and Verizon for sharing our vision and helping to make it a
reality.”
The Goodr Mobile Grocery Store will pop-up six more times in Clayton County this year for pre-registered customers. Learn more about Goodr here
