MARTA CONTINUES
SYSTEMWIDE INSTALLATION OF BETTER BREEZE FARE COLLECTION SYSTEM

Detours at 10 Stations
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)
better Breeze fare payment system is live, and installation of new fare
equipment including faregates and ticket vending machines continues at rail
stations systemwide. Construction and fare equipment installation is being done
in phases to ensure continued access to the system. This work will not cause
changes to rail or bus service but may require walking detours to enter and
exit stations.
Upcoming faregate construction dates and locations are as follows:
Starting Tuesday, April 7, 2026 – Lakewood/Fort McPherson Station
All faregates closed for construction. Use emergency gate.
Starting Wednesday, April 8, 2026 – Inman Park/Reynoldstown
Station
Faregates begin construction. Use open faregates.
Starting Thursday, April 9, 2026 – Chamblee Station
Northeast (facing New Peachtree Road) faregates closed for
construction. Use emergency gate or open faregates at south and northwest
entrances.
Starting Friday, April 10, 2026 – Oakland City Station
Both sets of west faregates closed for construction. Use the
emergency gate near west faregates (bus loop and parking lot side). East
faregates on Murphy Avenue will be open.
Starting Monday, April 13, 2026 – Peachtree Center Station
All faregates closed for construction. Use emergency gates.
Starting Tuesday, April 14, 2026 – Indian Creek Station
West faregates closed for construction. Use emergency gate at west
end or new, open faregates at bus loop.
Starting Wednesday, April 15, 2026 – Midtown Station
North faregates closed for construction. Use new, open south
faregates (Peachtree Place side).
Starting Thursday, April 16, 2026 – HE Holmes Station
East (bus loop) faregates closed for construction. Use emergency
gate at east faregates or new, open west faregates.
Starting Friday, April 17, 2026 – West End Station
North faregates closed for construction. Use emergency gate at
north end or new, open south faregates.
Starting Monday, April 20, 2026 – Vine City Station
East faregates closed for construction. Use new, west faregates
(facing away from stadium).
During the better Breeze customer transition period that runs
until May 2, 2026, customers will encounter old and new fare equipment and
ongoing construction. Faregates are being left open to ensure access to the
MARTA system, but customers are encouraged to tap if possible, using old fare
media on old equipment and new fare media or open payment on new equipment.
Starting May 2, 2026, all faregates will close (except those still
under construction) and customers will need a new form of payment to ride MARTA
such as a new orange Breeze card, bank card, or mobile wallet on their smart
phone or watch. Old silver Breeze cards and Breeze Mobile 2.0 will not work on
the new better Breeze system.
Remaining balances may be transferred to a new, registered Breeze
account May 5 through Oct. 30, 2026.
