MARTA TO HOLD RIBBON-CUTTING FOR NEW PEDESTRIAN
BRIDGE AT INDIAN CREEK STATION
ATLANTA
– The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will celebrate the
completion of a new pedestrian bridge and west plaza at Indian Creek Station
with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
Indian
Creek rail station is the easternmost terminus of the Blue Line and plays an
important role in connecting customers in eastern DeKalb County to the greater
MARTA system, serving an average of 3,000 customers a day. This event marks a
key milestone in the Indian Creek Rehabilitation Project.
The
centerpiece of the project is a new pedestrian bridge which gives residents on
Durham Park Road access to the north end of the station. Additional upgrades
include new lighting and illuminated signage,
new landscaping, benches, and trash receptacles, deep cleaning, new public
artwork, and a repaved bus loop. A new operators’ booth and restroom have also
been added to the platform.
The project was completed in partnership with Carroll Daniel
Construction Company and C.D. Moody Construction Company.

County Commissioner Mereda Johnson and other local officials will be in
attendance.
