MARTA PROVIDES SEAMLESS SERVICE OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) provided safe, clean, and reliable service to approximately 423,040 customers over Labor Day weekend, ensuring smooth travel to Dragon Con, the Aflac Kickoff Classic, Atlanta Hip Hop Day Festival, and other events across the metro area.
MARTA added rail service before and after events, including additional shuttle trains to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. MARTA deployed Load and Go teams to assist with train boarding and prevent platform overcrowding. To further support the influx of riders, MARTA enhanced escalator and crowd control measures at high-ridership locations, using barricades and signage to maintain steady passenger flow. Third party escalator and elevator teams were also stationed across the system to monitor and assist as needed.
The MARTA Police Department (MPD) used enhanced safety measures throughout the weekend including drone surveillance, a mobile command unit, and open-air roll calls to increase officer visibility. The Chief, Deputy Chiefs, and command staff worked alongside uniformed, plain clothes, and K-9 officers, and Field Protective Specialists patrolling stations, trains, buses, and parking facilities. MPD reported no major incidents, with most calls related to medical assistance. MARTA contracted with EMS providers and staged them at key stations to provide immediate medical support if necessary.

MARTA also deployed 277 Transit Ambassadors across the system this weekend to provide directions, answer questions, and assist riders, reinforcing MARTA’s commitment to ensuring every customer felt welcomed and supported throughout their trip while delivering a best-in-class transit experience.
