LEARNERS HOST READING AND RIDING RALLY FOR CLAYTON COUNTY STUDENTS
ATLANTA
– The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), in partnership with
Page Turners Make Great Learners and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport, hosted students from Michelle Obama STEM Elementary Academy for a
Reading and Riding Rally at Hartsfield-Jackson Fire Station #33 by Runway 5 to
celebrate literacy and love of reading.
Students
gathered at the airport fire station for the event, which included a reading
celebration, a surprise pop-up shop where students could select books, and the
opportunity to see the world’s busiest airport in action.
“MARTA
is proud to partner with Page Turners Make Great Learners and
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to bring the Reading and
Riding Rally to life for these students,” said Michelle Arrington, MARTA
Assistant General Manager of External Affairs. “Transit is at the epicenter of
everything that connects our communities, and today’s event shows how
transportation can bring together education, exploration, and opportunity.”
“We
are excited to welcome these students to the airport and show them the
incredible activity that happens here every day,” said Diana Léon Brown, Deputy
General Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
“Experiences like this spark curiosity and help students see the many
possibilities connected to aviation and transportation.”
MARTA and Page Turners Make Great Learners share a longstanding
partnership that celebrates students’ love of learning and promotes childhood
literacy across metro Atlanta. Through shared reading experiences that engage
and inspire young minds, Page Turners helps students expand their understanding
of themselves and the world around them, fostering curiosity, discovery, and a
lifelong love of reading.
