Project Overview
MARTA’s Airport Station serves an estimated 9,000 riders daily at one of the world’s busiest airports, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The station is a major hub, marking the southern terminus of the Gold and Red Lines.
MARTA is renovating Airport Station as a part of its Station Rehabilitation Program to renovate all 38 of its heavy rail stations. Some of the key features include a newly opened elevator and RideStore, new platform flooring which improves accessibility for all customers, and renovated escalators.
These improvements are designed to enhance customer experience and accessibility, creating a more vibrant, welcoming environment for riders.

Project Features
- New RideStore
- New supervisor’s booth
- New elevator and renovated escalator
- Pressure cleaning throughout the station
- New terrazzo flooring installed throughout the concourse level to match the Airport flooring
- Replacement of old, worn tile on the platform to create an even, smooth surface for customers and luggage
- New artwork through MARTA’s Artbound program
The following features are planned for future construction phases:
- New employee break room and office area
- New station phones for customer and employee access to various emergency services
- New translucent canopy
