Starting Saturday, August 29, access to MARTA’s North Springs Station from SR 400 southbound will shift to Temporary Exit 5B for Phase 1 of Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT’s) SR 400 Express Lanes project. Station access remains open during construction. 

Drivers traveling southbound on SR 400 to North Springs Station should use Exit 5B and follow posted signage for updated directions. Please allow extra travel time during construction.

Project Overview 

MARTA is exploring Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Georgia 400, which would connect the existing MARTA rail service terminating at North Springs Station to the Windward Parkway Park and Ride in the north. The proposed BRT route would run along the State Route 400 Express Lanes being built by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). BRT stations are planned in separated guideways entirely within, or immediately adjacent to, the GA 400 corridor. Associated park and ride stations, pedestrian connections, and other BRT amenities will be near the proposed station locations. There are four station locations identified north of the existing North Springs MARTA Rail Station.  

The proposed station locations are:  

• Northpoint Mall  
• Holcomb Bridge Road
• Old Milton Parkway – Currently outside of GDOT’s SR400 Express Lanes Project 
• Windward Parkway  
  

The proposed BRT service would have frequencies similar to current MARTA rail service and maintain a reliable schedule by using the SR 400 Express Lanes. The conceptual station designs include safe pedestrian access as well as convenient connections between connecting transit routes. Proposed stations would be for buses only.
