RIDER ALERT

Attention Doraville Customers: Beginning Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, the south faregates (off Park Ave.) at Doraville Station will close for construction. Customers must use other faregates located at the north (Kiss & Ride) and west (bus loop) entrances. Customers with limited mobility should consider parking in the lot closest to the Kiss & Ride.

Attention Lindbergh Customers: As of Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, the southeast faregates (Lindbergh Lane) are closed for construction. Please use the faregates on the other side on Garson Drive.

Current Status

Construction. The initial pilot began in Fall of 2025 with new equipment installation at Lindbergh and Doraville Stations. Other station installations will be phased in through late 2025 and into early 2026. Access to all rail stations will be maintained during construction. The systemwide customer transition to the new fare collection system is scheduled for April 2026.

Project Overview

MARTA is replacing its entire fare collection system with a modern, reliable, and customer-focused system that will be faster and easier to use. The new system will keep the popular Breeze name but all fare collection equipment and media, including Breeze cards and tickets, faregates and fareboxes, validators, Breeze vending machines, and the mobile app, will be updated. This major investment in state-of-the-art technology will prioritize equity and regional mobility to prepare Atlanta for the future.

The Better Breeze system features:

  • Open payment: Simply tap a bank card, smart phone or watch, or mobile wallet to pay for your ride.
  • New app: Customers will need to download an updated app and create a new account where they can store fare.
  • New cards: The new system will use new physical cards with a fresh design and continued options for multi-day and monthly passes.
  • New equipment: Customers will use new faregates and fareboxes, validators, and Breeze vending machines systemwide.
    • New faregates are sleek, modern, and harder to tamper with or damage creating a safer, more secure transit system.
    • New, frictionless fare payment equipment makes riding faster and easier.
    • Bus and Mobility vehicles will have new validators that accept all forms of payment.

For now, customers should continue using the existing app, fare media and equipment. Information on ongoing fare equipment installation and instructions on how and when to transition to the new fare system will be shared in the coming months.
