MARTA TO CLOSE SOUTH ENTRANCE OF EAST LAKE STATION TO REPLACE BRIDGE

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will close the south entrance of East Lake Station, including the south pedestrian bridge, bus loop and south parking lot beginning Monday, March 24, 2025, to replace the pedestrian bridge.

NEED TO KNOW:

  • Pedestrian Access: All customers must use the new north pedestrian bridge to reach Blue Line trains. The new elevator on the north side will be open before the south elevator closes.
  • Parking: The south lot will be closed. Customers may park in the north lot.
  • Bus Service: Bus routes 2, 19 and 34 will be rerouted to the north side. View updated route details at itsmarta.com.
  • Shuttle Service: A free shuttle will operate between the north and south lots during service hours for added convenience.
  • StationSoccer: The soccer pitches and parking on the north side will remain open.

Temporary road closures will occur during the removal of the old bridge and installation of the new bridge. MARTA will provide advance notice through signage and other communications to ensure minimal disruption.

This project is part of a broader effort to enhance East Lake Station, ensuring it remains a safe, accessible, and contemporary facility for the community. Additional improvements include upgraded ADA ramps, fresh paint, and enhanced curb and gutter features.

MARTA recently completed the installation of the north pedestrian bridge, which features a new elevator, enhanced lighting, and upgraded flooring. Download images of the bridge installation work here.
