Existing phones have been in service for more than 30 years and are approaching the end of their useful life.

- Dual-function phones that combines customer assistance and emergency capabilities into a single, easy-to-use device
- Easy-to-identify and access cabinet with bright blue lights
- New, more reliable analog system
- Enhanced durability
- Scalability options for future system upgrades
Construction to replace approximately 1,700 existing units system-wide will occur in phases over the next five fiscal years starting with seven stations in the first wave:
- Ashby
- Garnett
- Hamilton E. Holmes
- North Springs
- Peachtree Center
- Sports, Entertainment and Convention District Station (formerly GWCC/CNN Center Station)
- Vine City Station
Additional construction schedule information will be shared once available. Some single tracking may be required for this project, but customer impact is minimal.
