No Need to Hurdle through Weekend Traffic—Travel is a “Breeze” on MARTA

In preparation for a busy weekend schedule, MARTA is ready to get you to your destination with ease.

Hawks’ fans are encouraged take MARTA to the opening tip off for the Friday Jan. 20, matchup with the Chicago Bulls and again on Saturday as the hometown favorites battle it out against the Philadelphia 76ers at Philips Arena.

The Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women is Saturday, begins at 1 p.m. at the Center for Civil and Human Rights and ends at the State Capitol. Participants riding MARTA can take the Red or Gold Lines, exit at the Peachtree Center Station and use the Baker or Peachtree Street exit. Another option is to ride the Blue or Green Lines, using the Philips Arena exit. Because of single tracking scheduled for Saturday, customers should allow extra time for their trips.

On game day this Sunday Jan. 22, MARTA and the Falcons are ready to “Rise Up” for the NFC game that has the Atlanta Falcons challenging the Green Bay Packers. Nearly 20,000 devoted fans made the smart choice last weekend to see Atlanta defeat the Seattle Seahawks. Additional MARTA personnel will be at the Georgia Dome and Vine City stations and deployed in select stations.

“MARTA is prepared to handle all customers who will be on the system over the next two days,” said MARTA GM/CEO Keith T. Parker. “We are committed to providing the best customer service to our loyal riders and out-of-town visitors.”

Smartphone users are urged to download MARTA’s “On The Go” App to track bus and rail arrivals in real time. MARTA will provide personnel to ensure that customers arrive at their destinations safely and conveniently.

Customers are strongly advised to purchase a round trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid the long lines and potential wait upon the return. Customers may purchase a round-trip Breeze card for only $2.50 each way plus $2 charge for a permanent Breeze card, using cash or credit/debit cards. Remember, one Breeze card per person, and customers must tap cards to enter and exit stations.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking at Lindbergh Center Station must park in the designated areas and validate their parking ticket at the machines located inside Lindbergh Center Station to receive daily free parking. Please note that MARTA has designated lots, which charge a fee. Check Marta Parking for details.
