Performance (December 2017):
Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.86 in December exceeded the forecast by
$0.51, or 15.2%. This unfavorable variance was due to rail ridership falling
short of the forecast by 0.9 million unlinked passenger boardings and operating
expenses coming over budget. The 2018 Fiscal Year-to-Date (months of July through
December) Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.28 was better than the
forecast by $0.05, or 1.5%. This favorable variance is due to operating
expenses coming under budget.
