Definition: Rail Cost per Passenger Trip measures the total cost of providing rail service per unlinked passenger boarding.

 

Performance (January 2017):

The Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.05 in January exceeded the forecast by $0.18, or 6.3%. This unfavorable variance was due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 0.4 million unlinked passenger trips. The 2017 Fiscal Year-to-Date (months of July through January) Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $2.98 exceeded the forecast by $0.24, or 8.8%. This unfavorable variance is due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 4.2 million unlinked passenger trips.
