Definition: Rail Cost per Passenger Trip measures the total cost of providing rail service per unlinked passenger boarding.

 

Performance (April 2017):

The Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.06 in April exceeded the forecast by $0.37, or 13.8%. This unfavorable variance was due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 0.3 million unlinked passenger trips and net over-runs of budgeted expenses. The 2017 Fiscal Year-to-Date (months of July through April) Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.01 exceeded the forecast by $0.26, or 9.3%. This unfavorable variance is due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 5.4 million unlinked passenger trips and net over-runs of budgeted expenses.
