Definition: Rail Cost per Passenger Trip measures the total cost of providing rail service per unlinked passenger boarding.

 

Performance (March 2017):

The Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $2.92 in March exceeded the forecast by $0.20, or 7.4%. This unfavorable variance was due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 0.6 million unlinked passenger trips. The 2017 Fiscal Year-to-Date (months of July through March) Cost per Rail Passenger Trip of $3.01 exceeded the forecast by $0.26, or 9.3%. This unfavorable variance is due to rail ridership falling short of the forecast by 5.1 million unlinked passenger trips.
