Major Patrice Zachary is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and has
built a distinguished career with the MARTA Police Department since joining in
1998. She began her service in the South Precinct as a bicycle patrol officer,
where she served until 2003. She was then assigned to the Five Points Precinct
from 2003 to 2004, continuing her work in bicycle patrol before being promoted
to Sergeant in 2004.
As a Sergeant, Major Zachary served in both the South and North
Precincts. Her leadership and performance led to her promotion to Lieutenant in
2008, at which time she was assigned to the Five Points Precinct. In 2014, she
transferred to the East Precinct, where she served until being selected as the
Clayton County Precinct Commander, which falls under South Precinct. In this
role, she also provided critical support to the South Precinct, serving in a
dual capacity.
In 2021, Major Zachary became one of the founding members of
MARTA’s Peer Support team, where she has responded to numerous traumatic
incidents and provided essential support to fellow officers. In March 2024, she
was appointed Evening Watch Commander, a role she held until her promotion to
Captain in January 2025. She was subsequently promoted to Major in August 2025
and currently serves as the South Precinct Commander.
Throughout her tenure, Major Zachary has been a dedicated mentor
and trusted leader, playing a key role in developing Sergeants and Lieutenants
who have gone on to excel in their positions.
Major Zachary holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and
a Master of Business Administration, both from Saint Leo University. She is an
active member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the International
Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
