Ways to Pay Fare
Breeze is the fast, flexible, secure way to ride MARTA and its participating regional transit agency services with buying options that fit your needs.
Tap a Bank Card
Riders can now skip the ticket vending machine and tap their contactless-enabled debit or credit card directly at the validator on rail stations faregates and on buses.

Tap a Mobile Wallet
Riders can also link a bank card to their mobile wallet on their smartphone or smartwatch and pay directly at rail station faregates and the validators on buses. Apple, Google, and Samsung wallets are accepted.

How do I enable Apple Express mode?
Go to Apple Wallet and select your debit or credit card. Then tap on [ellipsis] and choose Card Details or Account Details. Scroll down to Express Transit and check whether Express Mode is on or off. To turn on Express, tap “Express Transit Settings”, select your desired card, and follow the prompts to authenticate. Only one payment card can be enabled for Express Transit at a time.
Breeze Card
The Breeze card is a reloadable, long-term use transit card that allows riders to load various and multiple fare products — including multi-ride packages. The Breeze card costs $2.00 in addition to the fare.
Starting March 28, riders can no longer purchase or load old (silver) Breeze cards or tickets. Customers can still spend down any remaining Breeze balance until May 2. Balance transfers will be accommodated May 5–Oct. 30, 2026.
Purchase the new orange Breeze card & fare at:
- New Breeze vending machines
- Up to five (5) Breeze cards can be purchased in one transaction.
- MARTA and regional partners’ Ride Stores
- Online at the new breezecard.com
- Once you register and sign into your account, follow the prompts to purchase a card.
- Breeze cards can take a week to arrive so if you have immediate travel plans, purchase in-person.

Breeze Ticket
Single-use paper Breeze tickets expire 90 days from purchase and are not reloadable. The ticket costs $1.00 in addition to the fare. You can purchase new orange Breeze tickets at new Breeze vending machines. Up to ten (10) Breeze tickets can be purchased in one transaction.
Ticket option include:
- One-way trip
- Round trip
- One-day ticket
Cash
Cash is accepted at ticket vending machines, Ride Stores, and on buses. Exact change is required on buses.
Breeze Mobile App
The new Breeze Mobile app will be available for download on Android and iOS devices starting Saturday, March 28, 2026, and can be used to manage your physical Breeze card and purchase fare.

Riding with Companions
Each customer needs their own form of payment. Do not “pass back” a Breeze card, bank card, or mobile wallet for others to use. If traveling with children or an individual without their own form of payment, you may purchase fare at any new touchscreen ticket vending machine. Multiple cards may now be purchased in one transaction at ticket vending machines. You may also pay for a companion using a different bank card than the one you used.
Using Transfers
Every MARTA trip comes with four transfers, meaning you can change buses or go from the bus to the train without paying additional fare within a 3-hour period.
You must use exactly the same payment method when transferring from bus to bus and bus to rail to ensure you are not charged additional fare. For example, if you tap your debit card on the bus, tap the same debit card at the faregate when transferring to rail. Please note that even if your bank card and mobile wallet are linked to the same bank account, the new system will read them as separate forms of payment and charge you additional fare for the transfer. So be sure to use the exact same payment method to avoid an extra charge.
