Lost & found

Reporting lost items

Submit an online form to document your lost item and staff will begin searching for it as soon as we receive your inquiry form. Please note that it can take up to five business days to reach the Lost and Found office.

Report a lost item

A few things to keep in mind

One details report

You only need to report your lost item once. When you report your lost item, please give as much detail as possible to help us match your description to recovered items turned into Lost and Found.

We will need verification

If we receive an item that matches the description you’ve provided, we will contact you for additional information and verification.

Claim in person with a valid photo ID

Identified items must be claimed in person with a valid photo ID. If you’re unable to retrieve your item personally, please contact our office to discuss the requirement for a notarized letter authorizing someone else to retrieve the item for you. This person will need to provide a photo ID.

Claim within 30 days

Recovered items are stored in Lost and Found for a 30-day time period, then donated to charitable organizations or properly disposed of based on the type of item and its condition.

The Lost and Found Office operates by appointment only, email or call 404-848-3208 to request an appointment to retrieve your lost items.
