MARTA BOARD CONFIRMS
JEFFREY PARKER AS GENERAL MANAGER AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE
OFFICER
ATLANTA – The
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Board of Directors today
voted unanimously to confirm transit executive Jeffrey A. Parker as the Authority’s
new general manager and chief executive officer.
“There was
remarkable unanimity among the board that Jeff was the right person,” said
MARTA Board of Directors Chairman Robert L. Ashe. “His broad knowledge of
transit and vision for MARTA make him the perfect fit for the Authority.”
After a
months-long nationwide executive search, Parker was named the sole finalist and
was confirmed after a state mandated 14-day waiting period. He was most
recently vice president at infrastructure and design firm HNTB Corporation’s
Atlanta office. Parker is a former MARTA senior director of transportation,
working at the agency from 2005 to 2008, and has also led transit operations in
Boston and Connecticut.
Parker will begin
work next week.
