Ride MARTA to Avoid Parade and Pigskin Gridlock

MARTA gives holiday revelers and sports fans reasons to be merry and bright with stress-free commuting options for a holiday season chockfull of festivities, fun and frivolity.

Saturday’s events include the Children’s Healthcare Parade at 10:30 a.m. and the gridiron excitement of the SEC College Football Championship at the Georgia Dome, which kicks off at 4:00 p.m.

For the fourth consecutive year, MARTA will showcase a seasonally themed bus to accompany arrival from the North Pole. “Holiday Toys” will be an artfully decorated articulated “bendy” bus that joins the procession, starting at Peachtree and 16th streets and ending at Peachtree and 5th.  MARTA bus routes 27, 36, 37 and 110 will be redirected until 1 p.m. to accommodate street closures.(Click here) To reach the parade route, customers should use the Red or Gold Line and exit at the Arts Center or Midtown stations.

Navigating your excursion is even easier with MARTA’s PlanATrip, where you can decide the best transit options to help you reach your destination. Smartphone and Android Users are urged to download MARTA’s free “On The Go” App to track bus and rail arrivals in real time.

Customers are strongly advised to purchase a round trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid the long lines and potential wait upon the return. Customers may purchase a round-trip Breeze card for only $2.50 each way, plus a $2 charge for a permanent Breeze card, using cash or credit/debit cards. Remember, one Breeze card per person, and customers must tap cards to enter and exit stations. Additional MARTA staff and MARTA police officers in high-visibility uniforms will be deployed throughout the system to assist customers.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking at Lindbergh Center Station must park in the designated areas and validate their parking ticket at the machines located inside Lindbergh Center Station to receive daily free parking. Please note that MARTA has designated lots, which charge a fee. Check Marta Parking for details.
