MARTA Planning Corridors

Rapid Transit System Planning Map

The map below is a conceptual model of how the MARTA Rapid Transit System might develop in the future.  Please check back often as the map will be updated to reflect changes in the status of projects or the addition of new projects. Please move your mouse over the corridor of interest and click to select.  If you’re not sure where to begin, please scroll down to see brief project summaries located below the map.

West Line Corridor

Westline logo

The West Line Corridor involves the study and implementation of a bus rapid transit (BRT) service from Hamilton E. Holmes rail station to Fulton Industrial Boulevard.  In addition, an extension of heavy rail service from Hamilton E. Holmes rail station to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and I-285 has also been studied and recommended.

There are no Public Meetings scheduled for this study at this time.

I-20 East Corridor

I-20 East Corridor logoTo achieve the corridor goals of improved mobility and access with minimal environmental impact, a bus rapid transit (BRT) alternative, extending from downtown Atlanta to a location near the Mall at Stonecrest via I-20 has been recommended.  The service would operate predominantly in an exclusive busway.

North Line (GA 400) Corridor

NorthLine logo

MARTA has completed the North Line Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Study to identify areas with the greatest potential to become mixed-use transit friendly activity centers.  These sites are located in the region extending from the North Springs rail station to Windward Parkway and could be connected by high capacity transit in the future.  The North Point Cluster was recommended as the prototypical TOD site.

There are no Public Meetings scheduled for this study at this time.

Beltline Corridor Bet Line logo

MARTA has completed the Alternatives Analysis (AA) for the transit portion of the Belt Line, and the MARTA Board of Directors has identified a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) for the corridor.  The LPA includes rail as the technology of choice for the corridor.  The technology and identified route will be advanced for environmental analysis which will ultimately result in the preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).  Note: During the Feasibility Assessment, this project was referred to as part of the Inner Core.

Click here for more about the Beltline.

There are no Public Meetings scheduled for this study at this time.

Clifton Corridor

The Clifton Corridor transit concept involves investigating the need for high-capacity transit connections between the Clifton Corridor in DeKalb County and the Lindbergh Center area.  Note: During the Feasibility Assessment, this project was formerly referred to as the C-Loop portion of the Inner Core.  Check back soon for more information regarding the Clifton Corridor.

There are no Public Meetings scheduled for this study at this time.
